ARMY First Interaction with BTS after Enlistment this Weekend
In just under a week since the last four BTS members commenced their military service, ARMY remains vigilant, keen on updates from afar. This phase proves to be challenging not only for fans but particularly for the BTS members as they acclimate to a new living environment.
Devoid of music, internet, and phones, coupled with a myriad of rules, adapting to these changes poses a notable challenge. However, a glimmer of positivity emerged over the weekend when the group members were granted a limited opportunity to engage in certain activities, marking a notable development.
Ever wondered about the activities new military recruits, especially those from the entertainment world, are allowed? Here's a peek into what the military permits these newly enlisted members to do:
All Korean male citizens aged 18 to 35, in good health and not exempt from military service, must undergo this obligation, regardless of their familial or celebrity status. A common belief in Korea is that military service is an inherent part of a man's identity. Last December, the four BTS members commenced their military service collectively, displaying optimism on enlistment day despite the visible emotions of bidding farewell to fans and apprehension about adapting to a new environment.
Enlisting is undoubtedly a profound decision, even for global sensations like BTS. A life of stringent disciplines, unfamiliar and challenging surroundings, coupled with numerous restrictions, awaits them. While fans share in the sorrow of their decision, all they can do is wish for a healthy military term and a swift return.
In a recent development, there's uplifting news for ARMYs – RM, V, Jimin, and Jungkook will now have the privilege of using phones for the first time since enlisting, thanks to recent changes in Korean military rules. Effective September 23, trainees are allowed a one-hour phone usage window during weekends. Notably, this represents a positive shift, as previously, Jin's unit did not have this provision when he enlisted last December. Though regulations vary across training centers, the updated laws aim to boost the morale of new recruits.
While the phone usage is limited to an hour, members can connect with their families but are prohibited from video calls. Additionally, they can access social media to read messages and well-wishes from fans. This presents an opportunity for ARMYs to express heartfelt support and comfort to the members during this phase, knowing their messages can be a source of strength for the group.
